SCOTT MURRAY – BC Survivor

This is Scott Murray, one of our guest speakers who will share his journey as a male Breast Cancer survivor at our June 22nd Survivors Raise Hope event. Scott completed the Scar Tissue Release Therapy with Melodie Aldinofi to regain his range of motion and release the tightness from scar tissue build-up. He was born in Lancaster, PA, graduated from McCaskey High School and Willow Street Vo-tech which is now known as Lancaster CTC. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp after graduation, serving 6 years. While in the service, he received the Top Gun award in competition with Amphibious Recon.

In civilian life, Scott married and had two sons. He taught his skill of masonry at the CTC while forming his own masonry business. His corporate company grew to 40 plus employees building schools and hotels. Through the Marine Corp and his business, Scott has traveled the world and the United States. He earned his captain’s license for offshore fishing in Maryland and had the experience of being a fishing guide assistant in Alaska. In retirement, he had taken the role of caregiver for his mother. Shortly after her death, he was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with minimal options for treatment. After surgery, Scott’s cancer had been reduced to stage 1, considered a miracle by many and for Scott, a new perspective on life.

Nicole Pope – BC Survivor

Meet Nicole, a 6-month survivor of Invasive ductal carcinoma, Stage 3, Grade 3 of the right breast. Nicole will be sharing her journey at our Survivors Raise Hope event June 22nd. She is a mom of three boys and a Nunu to a 3-year-old grandson, a social worker, and an advocate. Nicole loves music and in her life before cancer she loved dancing, hiking, and traveling. Her limitations have her on a pause. She learned about Ta Ta Rebels when she met Kim while attending a Cancer group at Penn State Hershey. There she learned about the assistance Ta Ta Rebels offered, and the resources provided is amazing. Through the organization she attended three medical massage therapy sessions with Melodie Adinolfi. This treatment helped relieve her scar tissue, increased her range in motion, and helped with strengthening her grip. The at home techniques she received to help with the continued healing and improving her quality of life is really beneficial. She is thankful and incredibly grateful for this program.
